I grew up east of Toronto in Whitby and Oshawa as a kid. However, my fondest memories and greatest learning experiences came when I travelled into the big smoke, making the commute on the big green and white double-decker on rails. When Tara and Brad told me where they were holding their ceremony and reception, I knew it was going to be another trip down memory lane.

Tara and Brad were married at St. Matthews United Church on St. Clair Avenue. When I looked up information on the church, I realized that it was pleasantly similar to the church that I had attended for so many years as a teenager just south of there on Christie Street. When I arrived at St. Matthews, I was transported back in time.

After the wedding, we were off to another familiar area of town. Union Station was the starting point for many of my forays into urbanity and the rail-roundhouse-turned-Steam-Whistle-brewery always marked the location. The historic building was a tremendous venue for Tara and Brad's reception and no one could complain about what was on tap.

Thanks to the couple for taking me back, way back in time.

Canada, Australia and now Korea. All places the globetrotting Chozen has travelled and has returned for a short stint where it all began...

We took Chozen a.k.a. Ren to our original stomping grounds and came up with these photos. Ren has been featuring for a group called Chin Trigger in Korea and has been displaying talents that we didn't see coming.

So if you're in Korea and need some East Toronto flavour, you know what to look for and who sent you.

Good luck Chozen, take it.

Jinhee and Raymon! They were married in February of this year and I had the opportunity to shoot their photos.

It's been a number of years since my very own wedding and I am noticing that weddings are much more colourful than when I got married. Which is great for photos. Ah, we will miss you, silver tie.

Sometimes you get the opportunity to try something a little beyond the ordinary. When Jinhee and Raymon asked if I could take a group shot of all their friends, I promptly agreed! Then I realized that it was still February and a large group of shivering cold guests might not flow.

I'm on my monochrome kick these days, so I had to take a few. Alright, the last one isn't quite monochrome, but close. Thanks Jinhee and Raymon for letting me share in your day!

Congratulations to Marita and Andy on your wedding last fall. Has it been that long since I've last posted to my blog? The couple has been happily married for an entire season, the snow has fallen and melted away...
For this occasion, I decided to display their wedding photos in monochrome. I pondered colour or lack of it in a previous post, so I thought I should revisit.

Although Marita and Andy's wedding took place on a crisp and clear autumn day, the colours vibrant, I came to the conclusion that the smiles made the photos.

The entire ceremony and day was delightful and the mood carried over into the night. Thanks to Marita and Andy for letting me share your special day with you.

Many thanks to Janice and Henry for allowing me the opportunity to share your special day with you. I've had a very busy year with the coming of our baby daughter. So I thank you two for giving me the chance to get back on the links, even if it was only to drive the golf cart again!

Janice and Henry's wedding took place at the Emerald Hills Golf Club in Stouffville. The grass was green and the greens looked true. The course whispered gently in my ear, but I had a job to do and this was no time to run my fingers through it's well groomed locks. If you're confused, then you must not be one of us. Alright, back on topic. Notice the well kept grounds in the following photos, I digress.

There was a threat of rain on the day, but the couple did their best to prepare and the colours were fantastic and the sun continued to shine.

The course was beckoning me. Taunting me. Haunting me. I needed to get back to the clubhouse and focus on the lovely couple.

Again, I thank you two for getting me back into the fresh air and for letting me shoot for you. I wish the two of you the best of luck

Take a soon to be bride and her bridesmaids and let them roam the city and the following photos ensue. We'll start with Marita and Andy celebrating their engagement and upcoming wedding. However, much like then, Andy will have to step aside for the ladies.

The Distillery District in Toronto is the venue for this set of photos. Andy waited patiently to take these photos and I applaud you for your patience. It was a long hot holiday afternoon.

We started with the girls. Marita had a fantastic idea to create a photobook of her and the girls. She would give her bridesmaids these books as a token of her gratitude. I'm not sure if her girls were aware of her intentions, but it made for some great photos.

I've been living and working in Mississauga for a number of years now. I've become accustomed to the west end and it's quirks, like peoples' driving habits and the lack of small eateries (or abundance of chain restaurants, if you look at it from the other perspective). When Tina and Joseph indicated that they would like to have me shoot their wedding in Ajax, I took it as sort of a homecoming. The east end is where I grew up and it was time to revisit.

Congratulations to Tina and Joseph on their wedding! Here are some photos from the day.

The day actually started out downtown where Tina and entourage prepared. I spent all my time downtown while at university, so my life was unfolding in reverse.

Tina was beaming and Joseph was patiently awaiting.

Finally, the moment had arrived.

Again, congratulations! I had a great time shooting with you and it was great to head back to where it all began for me.

At times I have great photo aspirations. Most times, its simplicity that rules the day. Here are some photos of a friend named Alicia and the story of how these photos came to be.

I asked Alicia if she would pose for some photos for me. The concept I suggested to her was to dress her up and have her play the part of a tribal warrior girl all prettified (word?). Instead, with the mosquitoes eating us alive, we decided to go with a simple "glamour" shoot.

Then we decided to head inside. I've always wanted to do an elevator shoot and when the lift arrived I saw the following opportunity.

Finally, our tribal warrior woman turned chic urban girl with the following photos. These were shot in the parking garage, the large vents being the backdrop and an abandoned stairwell.

So where things start isn't where things end up.

Thanks again to Karen @ www.madebykaren.com for doing Alicia's makeup. Thanks goes to Su Young for the wardrobe. Finally, thank you Alicia for being a good dinner for the insects.

We setup a photoshoot at our friend's lounge, AtmosV.

We enlisted the help of our very talented friends and came up with the following photos. Special thanks goes to our makeup artist Karen Kim, who perfectly complemented our outfits and atmosphere. Tremendous help was provided by Christina Yan who worked as our professional consultant in wardrobe, posing and lighting. My wife, Susie Choi, provided everything from wardrobe selection, location setup and even hair! We would like to thank Kevin Chan for allowing us to use his lounge for the shoot and his professional modeling skills. AtmosV provided the perfect atmosphere and mood for the shots. Of course, we appreciate our model and diva (kidding), Grace Cheung, who worked muscles she didn't know she had holding the intricate poses we threw at her.

The idea was to capture Grace and Kevin in relive{Quiet Urban} style. I think the softer lighting in the portrait above created a special mood and I really like the shadows on Grace's right side and on the buttons on the chair.

You can probably see why we chose Grace for this shoot. She has great length and was able to fill the frame. Thanks Kevin and Susie for holding the lights in this tight space.
